Prologue

I stared silently as the awe-inspiring scene began to unfold before me. A forest with tall, green, twisted trees appeared in front of me and I was suddenly submerged into a land that was strangely familiar to me. Then, I vaguely understood what was happening. My special ability has finally been revealed.

"Melanie, what's going on?" Amanda asked almost in a whisper.

"You know how I told you I made a world in my own mind?" I replied. "This is it!"

My mind was overwhelmed with many emotions, but the strongest one begged an answer to a question: How is this happening? Instead of finding an answer, I walked onto the dirt path crossing from the world I knew was real to the one I would soon discover and followed the feeling of wonder and adventure.
