Secrets. Everyone has them. They are something that can't be avoided. I used to think that there were two types of people who kept different types of secrets. The first type were the people who seemed to be so honest. Those people were usually keeping few, big secrets. Then, there was the type that wasn't quite as open. Those people usually had many, little secrets. That was what I used to think before I learned about the third. That's the third, dreaded kind. The kind that I never even imagined: the type of people who have one, huge secret.

Secrets can make a person interesting. I always used to think that. I always used to be attracted to people who seemed mysterious and always seemed to be hiding something. I laugh at myself when I think of that. What a mistake I made to think that! If only I had known that would be the fault of me, the thing that changed my entire life, making sure that nothing, absolutely nothing would ever be the same.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. I should probably start all the way back at the beginning, a place that I can hardly picture anymore, a time that I can hardly remember, and back to people that now seem so foreign; all the way back when I was still innocent of everything imaginable. This is the story of how my life changed, and why.
