Chapter 1 |
Emma Racker hopped off the school bus and ran toward the paddocks of Racker Recuperation Farm, a place for abandoned and abused horses. Her bay Arabian, Shackle Taps, galloped up to the white rail fence to greet her happily. Emma smiled and stroked her nose, then grabbed a handful of mane and mounted her bareback. The two flew across the paddock as one - until Taps spooked at a brush rabbit darting across the field. She bucked, and despite Emma's tight hold, Emma catapulted over her neck. THUD - Emma tasted blood as she bit her tongue. Gritting her teeth, Emma straightened and set out to look for Taps. This was going to be a long afternoon.
