Most teens enjoy reading magazines because of the limited time involved. Teen magazines are especially popular because they focus on issues targeted specifically toward teens. Others enjoy staying on top of current affairs by reading their local newspapers. The majority said most of their time is spent on assigned readings for school.

"I probably read magazines most often because you don't have to start on a certain page for reading. You can choose what you do and don't want to read."
--girl, 14, Clayton, CA

"Skateboarding magazines."
--boy, 14, Clayton, CA

"Books that are fun, little novels about my age people, I love mags about the latest fashions, and hit movies! Also books about my future career - something in Law Enforcement"
--girl, 17, Bernardston, MA

"I like to read fashion and beauty magazines the most because they have things in them that girls my age want to read about."
--girl, 14

"I mostly read fashion magazines because the ones I read also include things on sports, music, entertainment, etc."
--girl, 16, Bowling Green, OH

"It seems as if most of my reading time is spent for school-related purposes."
--boy, 17, Bowling Green, OH

"I read newspapers the most, because it doesn't take long, and it's a good thing to do while eating breakfast. And they help me know what's going on in the world and about things that affect me."
--girl, 15, Silver Spring, MD

"I like reading just for pleasure, but like I said I am really busy so probably the school assigned readings. I always do my homework and we are assigned reading a lot so that's probably the reading I do most."
