Glee: season 1

Blue Plate Special book coverReview:

If you’ve somehow missed all the hype about Glee (lots of awards, people!), then go out and get Season 1 on DVD, call your friends and tell them their weekend is now booked! If you’ve been a “Gleek” (Glee fan) for a long time, you will still love going back and watching it all from the beginning. Why? Watch what it was like before every episode had to have a theme or a huge song and dance.  Season 1 is just about a bunch of kinda weird, but also totally normal, high school kids who face a lot of the same problems as everyone else--being picked on, getting a crush on a friend, worrying what others think about you, dealing with crazy teachers and crazier relationships. They love to sing but know that being in Glee Club is social suicide (getting a frozen Slushie thrown in your face while walking down the hall happens to everyone in Glee Club). What gets them through it all is being a part of something that matters to them and the hope of winning at the big competition at the end of the year, Sectionals. Along the way, they entertain you by singing some of your favorite songs (Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Journey and more!).

If you’ve ever been a part of a club that you loved but no one else understood, then you probably already love and watch Glee, and should definitely have Season 1 in your DVD collection. If you often find yourself singing and dancing to your favorite songs when you’re alone in your room, then Glee is definitely recommended for you.

There’s so many great episodes in Season 1: when Quinn (Dianna Agron), the pregnant cheerleader, finally reveals who the real father of her child is; when Rachel (Lea Michele) finally meets and sings with her mother; the final episode when they all sing … well, you just have to watch it! What’s your favorite Glee episode from Season 1?
