Death Be Not Proud by John Gunther (by stinkycheesegirlie, 15)

"It's a very open and honest book about Johnny's illness and the experiences of him and his family before and after his death. It's sad, but don't let that discourage you from reading it. It's an amazing biography."

Book Rating: **** four stars (incredible)
Book Subcategory: Adult Classics

What is this book about? (please don't give away the ending!)

It's a biography of John Gunther's son's (Johnny Gunther Jr.) experiences while slowly dying of brain cancer. And it's about Johnny's determination to stay alive, be happy, and succeed academically.

What did you like about the book? Or, who was your favorite character in the book and why?

Obviously Johnny Gunther is my favorite, for being so brave and focused during his last few years of life. He was determined to stay alive and keep everybody happy.

Was there anything you didn't like about the story or the writing style?

I think the book was great and very well-written. The writing style of John Gunther is more than appropriate. Sharing his true feelings and honoring his son is something I can really appreciate.

Do you have any other comments about yourself or the book that would give us a better understanding of your review?

Whether you have lost a loved one in your life or not, this book will bring out sadness (maybe even tears), and teach you not to take anyone you love (or those whom you don't love) for granted.
