Holidays and Parties can often be both fun and exciting. There are many differences however, between who celebrates what and how often. These survey results reveal what activities and trends occur throughout every SmartGirl's party and holiday experiences!

Since many holidays are associated with buying gifts for others and throwing holiday-themed parties, we were curious to see which holiday causes SmartGirls to spend the most cash. We asked SmartGirls, during which holiday do you spend the most money?

- We found that 211 SmartGirls spend the most money on Christmas.
- 6 SmartGirls spend the most money on Mother's Day and Father's Day.
- 5 SmartGirls spend the most money on Chanukah.
- 4 SmartGirls spend the most money on Valentine's Day.

In general, holidays are a time to bring families together. Although many people may not live near their relatives, the holidays are a great time for family members who have not seen each other in awhile to get together. We asked SmartGirls during which holiday they tend to spend the most time with their family. Here's what we found:

| The most popular holiday for spending time with family is Christmas. Thanksgiving is another holiday that is great for family time. |

Because holidays are so common and important, we decided to ask SmartGirls how holidays make them feel.

One thing that many people do in preparation for the holidays is decorate their homes. Decorating can give people a chance to spend time with their families in a fun and relaxed manner. We wanted to see how common holiday decorating is for SmartGirls. Here are the results:

If relatives live far apart from each other, they will oftentimes stay at another relative's house during the holidays. This can be beneficial because it allows families to spend more time together, and it also helps the family who is traveling save some money! However, having a family stay at one's house is not always pleasant. There can be conflicts, overcrowding, and frustration. We wanted to see how many SmartGirls have relatives or friends that stay with them during the holidays. Check out the graph below:

Parties, whether with family or friends, are a great way to have fun and meet new people. And what better time than the holidays to attend lots of parties? We asked SmartGirls how many parties they've attended within the past year, and here's what we found:

Though in the United States, people cannot consume alcohol until they are 21, in some other cultures, it is not uncommon for teenagers to have a drink at a family celebration or with their parents. It is important to take this into consideration when thinking about this data.
