What would you do???
We posed the following scenario to SmartGirls!

Picture this: You're a freshman in high school and your crush is a senior. You want to ask your crush out, but you're not sure if things would ever work out because of the age difference. What should you do?

Here are just a few responses from SmartGirls. . .

~ First, I would ask around to see if he even likes me and if it turns out he does I say forget the age difference and GO FOR IT!!!

~ You should ask your crush out because if you don't you'd always wonder "What if?" Also if you ask them out and they say no, there'd be less chance of awkwardness because they'd be at college soon.

~ I would definitely tell my friends and my parents about it and ask their opinion. See what they think. I would do that because I respect and trust them, and I think that they always want what's best for me.

~ See if you can get to know the guy first, just as friends, and if you still like him, then ask him to go out somewhere, like to a football game or something (its probably better to be somewhat in public for the 1st few dates at least, just to make sure the older guy isn't some sort of a creep.) I think the age difference isn't necessarily a problem, but things should be taken slowly.

~ Haha! I would never advise a freshman in high school to ask out a senior unless the freshman was incredibly mature for her age and the senior was immature, because the difference between these two age groups, the things they are allowed to and prefer to do, and many of their abilities and freedoms are too different to make things work.

~ I would ask his friend to ask him if he would ever date someone younger than him. Id get the answer and if he says yes I would ask his friend to ask him what he would think of me and then get the answer and is\f its yes I would ask him out if its no I would just put it behind me.

~ Become friends with them and if they are interested in you, they will let you know. I am a freshman and my boyfriend is a junior and I was friends with him first and he came to me and told me he liked me and it is working out great!

~ Send them a secret admire letter and see how spun out they get when they read it and then the next day tell them a little bit about yourself then tell him to write you one and give it to some one or to leave it somewhere and then read it then ask him a whole heap of questions and make sure that you ask if he cares about age difference.

~ Well first of all I'm a girl and I don't think girls should ask guys out because that it totally desperate. I don't really know if things would work out it totally depends on the people. Like if the freshman was too immature the relationship wouldn't work and I think I guy that is a senior might want to go out with a freshman for the wrong reasons.
