I Don't Want To Like Him |
I haven't liked anyone for the longest time because it hurt so much when my last boyfriend had to move away. After that, I guess I just chilled. A lot of my friends are worried, and a couple guys asked me out but I said no. It ruined some of my friendships. But now as a freshman in high school, I really like this sophomore. He is just different, but I don't want to like him. I told my friend I was happy because I thought he didn't notice me. If he liked me, I don't know what I would do. A few days later, my friend told me that after school she heard my crush telling a kid he thought I was pretty! I didn't believe it and told her it could have been another Carla, but it's not. I've been thinking about it for two weeks, and I still don't have a response. Can anyone help?

Dear SmartGirl,
If you like him, go for it! If not, and you're happy doing your own thing, keep doing that! In the end it's all your decision and what would make you the happiest. I know getting hurt is a really scary thing, but it's also just what happens to everyone and it teaches us a lot. But we also can't keep being scared of it. You learn to understand the reasons for why you were hurt last time and how you can prevent it next time. Don't be afraid. Make sure you get out there and enjoy life and the boys that come into it. But if you don't want to, that is absolutely fine and no one's business but yours! Do what makes YOU happy! =)

Dear Carla,
Definitely go with your instincts, as they are never wrong, but as I say: never let a chance at happiness pass you by. I was in the same situation saying no to guys after I'd recently broke up with my boyfriend, but it can actually be quite fun dating again. However, you should date when you feel ready. If you like this guy go for it!
