"Why Can't I Be Popular?
When I was young I was super popular and hung out with the super popular people. I have a best friend and she's kind of mean. She makes the rudest comments ever! I want to be popular so I can be more social and have the boy of my dreams. Although I am friends with this boy, I really want to go out with him! I think he would like me if I was popular again. Please help me!"

If your best friend doesn't agree to stop hurting your feelings, ask yourself if she is really a true friend. If you work things out with her, ask her to put in a good word for you with this boy. |

Try to get this boy to notice you in a way that you are comfortable with. Talk to him like you would talk to a friend. Try to tell him how you feel and see if he feels the same about you, then go from there. |

Try talking to your best friend and ask her why she acts mean toward you. Let her know that it hurts you and that you would appreciate it if she would stop. |

You shouldn't have to change who you are to get people to like you. If you have to change to get this boy to like you, then he isn't worth it. |

Everyone I know agrees, even the popular kids I know: When you're popular, people secretly despise you. It's true. But your friend is still a problem. So don't try to be popular, but talk to your friend. Tell her that some of the things she says aren't nice. And ask that boy out anyway!
I'm 12 too and you could say I'm popular. Just act yourself around your friends and if they don't like you for you then forget them and find your own friends. Be a leader and not a follower. And for the boy tell him how you feel and he'll come around!
Do you know the only difference between them and you? Confidence. The only way you're going to be popular and get that guy is by believing in yourself. Show the world that you don't care what they think and that you are perfect just the way you are.
A person likes you because of who you are. If you have to act different for someone to like you then it's like wearing a mask and a costume. What's the point?
