"Stress in school

Lately, I feel like all my school work is piling up. I cry every night because of the stress. My mom and dad don't understand because they say they worked twice as hard when they were younger. Who should I talk to or how should I deal with my stress?"

10% Sit your parents down and give them a serious talk. Explain to them that you are having a hard time dealing with all your responsibilities and that their attitudes aren't helping you any. Let them know that you're concerned about doing well in school. You could ask them to set aside some time every day to help you with your homework, or you could ask them to find you a tutor for some extra help.
8% Make a list and prioritize! At the beginning of each week or even when you get home from school every day, write out a list of all the school work you have to do and when you have to do it by. Then go through and give each number a task that corresponds to when you have to do it. So the most important task would be number 1 because you'll want to do it first, etc. This will help you to plan out your time and make you feel less stressed!
12% Paying a visit to your school counselor might be a good idea. School counselors are great people to talk to because they are especially ready to handle school-related problems. They can help you to work out how you're feeling, and they might even know specific things you could try to cut down your stress level. They are truly a great resource!
11% Start a homework help group at school. Talk to your friends and classmates and find out who is feeling the same way. Then plan a day or a few days every week when all of you can get together after school to help each other with your homework. You'll be able to talk out your stressful feelings and get your work done at the same time.

  • You know what? I had problems with my homework too but then I joined an after school homework help. Try that and don't put yourself down because probably, you are doing great. Another thing you could do is talk to your teacher - she or he will help.

  • Hey! If you're stressed out about school work, then ask your teacher for an extension. If they don't budge then just ask them for help. Or you could cancel some dates or something to make room for homework. If you want to, when you are all caught up with homework you could start scheduling homework parties with your buddies!

  • I know how you feel. I'm about to graduate from school and we're always having tests or having to do extra work. Write a diary on you feel - jot it all down show it another relative who can speak to your parents for you on your behalf. It???s important to let the school what's going on. Or speak to a Mentor of the Month or one in the SmartCenter. Spend time with your friends. Go shopping. You only live once! ~ Katie, 16
