"I think I have two personalities

Ok, so it's like this: I'm naturally outgoing, fun and a bit loud at home, but anytime I get to school, I become something different. I become all quiet and reserved. Once, someone actually called me boring, but I know that I'm really not! Is my shyness in school extreme?"

16% It's definitely normal to be shy at school. If you feel the most comfortable, outgoing, and fun at home, bring your friends over. Then they'll see the real you, and you might feel more comfortable and outgoing when you're with them at school, because you know that they've seen the real you at home.
10% Try getting involved in something extra-curricular (like joining a club or a sports team). This way, you can do something that you enjoy outside of school, with people from school. Also, it will connect you with a group of friends that you feel comfortable with so that you can be yourself when you're around them at school.
9% Sounds like your behavior changes between home and school, and that's not uncommon. Lots of people behave a certain way in one situation (or with one group of people), and a completely different way with in another. If you want to be shy at school and outgoing at home, then that's fine. Don't worry so much about what other people think. You know you're not boring and that's what counts!
13% Many people suffer from anxiety (nervousness) in social situations, such as school. If you want to be more outgoing outside of home, try to talk a little more each day. Try raising your hand once in each class. Then the next week, raise your hand twice. After that, try giving your opinion in conversations with friends once a day, then twice a day, and so on.

  • I know exactly how you feel. I go through the same thing too. The advice I got is to be confident in yourself, and be friendly to people. Give yourself a little pep talk in the mirror before school telling yourself all the good, positive things about you. It will help. Smile, ask people for their name, ask questions about them. They'll see you are interested in them and will want to be your friend. Also, try answering questions in class more often. It'll make you feel good about yourself. Lastly, don't focus too much on how people think of you. If you really open your eyes, people aren't really watching you as much as you think. Good luck!

  • Alright, you know, many girls are going through this. Keywords - be yourself! You sound like a totally awesome person. If kids don?t like you for who you are, that's their loss! Come out of your shell and be yourself!

  • No, your shyness isn't extreme at all. I guess you mean that you get quieter in situations you're less confident or uncomfortable in, right? Well, the best way to get over this is to just take a deep breath, and get on with it. What's the worst that can happen? Be positive, and try not to think about how shy you feel, and it will be a lot easier, trust me.
