"Peer Pressure
I have been taking private art lessons for 6 years and I really love them. However, select soccer is a really popular sport to play at my school. My friend plays select soccer. Playing select soccer would cost a lot of money, seeing as I already go to my private art lessons. My question is, Should I give up painting which I really love or start select soccer which everybody and my best friend are doing?"

Talk to your friend, your parents, and your art teacher. They know you well and might be able to point you in the right direction. |

Do not play soccer, stick to art lessons! Why give up something you are awesome at and love doing? You could be the next Picasso or Monet! It sounds like you only want to play soccer because it is popular in your school. Your friends will respect you for pursuing your passion. If you play soccer, you will probably waste a lot of money on a sport you might not even like playing. |

Take a break from art and go out for the soccer team! A sport is a great way to meet new friends! If you end up hating soccer, you know you can always go back to art. |

Give soccer a try, but do not quit art! You might find out that you are a great soccer player as well as a wonderful artist. Most teams have a trial-period where you can play for awhile before you make a commitment to pay. This way you can see if you like the sport before you make a full commitment. |

Dear Renee, if you love art so much why consider switching to soccer? Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you should too. It doesn't matter what everyone else at your school likes what really matters is what YOU like. You don't have to be like everyone else. Be the one who does things because she wants to and not because everyone else is doing them!
I would stick to art but give soccar a try, but if you don't like soccar you can give it up. Don't quit art as you could make a future out of it.
You should choose what you LOVE and enjoy doing. Maybe there is a chance that your friends might want to take art along with you. But, you could also make a little room. You could show THEM what you've accomplished in art class, and they could show you what they've learned at soccer!
Maybe you should give soccer a try just once to see if you like it, but don't carry on if you don't just because everyone else is. If Art remains your true passion, then standing out from the croud is what you need to do. And don't worry about it...individuality is far better than being just like everyone else.
You should stick to art, if that's what you really love. Be yourself. You shouldn't do something you don't like, just because your friends are doing it.
Dear Renee, Well, the question for ya is, if YOU choose to play soccer, will you enjoy it as much as art? Try playing with your friends after school or on the weekends. If this isn't for you, then don't even play select soccer. You should go for the thing you love and enjoy to do, even if it's soccer, you don't have to quit art completely, right? You can even make money from teaching people how to draw, and pay for the soccer! Well, whatever you choice is, I'm sure its the best for you. Love, Anne (:
If you start soccer, you're giving up who you are! Painting can be your thing, and soccer can be your friends! You don't ever have to do something just because your friends want you to, or because it's "cool." Painting for you is part of who you are! Soccer isn't. Stick to what you love.
Thanks to all of you that gave your advice! Please give your
