"I am 12 and I have a little cousin who is 8.
She always copies my clothes or hair style. She also thinks
that we are best mates or something. We go shopping together,
I go to her birthday parties, and I sleep-over her house.
She is really annoying me and I don't know if I should say
anything to her because I don't know if that would hurt her.
She is getting worse. Please help."

| 8% | Imitation is a form of flattery. You should feel good
that your little cousin loves you and your style. |
| 53% | Help your cousin find a style of her own. Take her shopping
and pick out clothes--that are not yours. She'll probablly love
them because her older cousin helped pick them out. |
| 2% | Tell your parents that you don't want to go over to your
cousin's house so much because she thinks that you are best
mates and won't stop imitating you. Maybe your younger cousin
will get the hint. |
| 15% | Just be patient--she's only 8! She'll eventually stop
imitating your clothing and hair style once she grows up a little.

- I have a cousin who is sort of like that too. She's only 5 though.
You have to be patient, she'll eventually find her own style.
- Show her some fun activities she can do with friends her age
and help her meet some more friends. Even though she thinks you
are the coolest, she will soon realize that she has more in common
with kids her age, and when she gets more individuality, she won't
feel she needs to latch on to you as much.
- Think how good it will feel to know that your cousin will enter
jr. high wearing your individual hairstyle, or that she wants
to be just like you. My cousin does the same thing. I take it
as a compliment because she loves my personality and style so
much that she wants to be just like me.
- Sophie, Being copied is not fun because you want to be the individual
that you are. Tell her that you
like her because of who she is and you don't want to hang out
with yourself. Maureen, 14
