28% Depression is very common amongst young (and older) girls. It is best to try and talk with someone who can help you, like a school guidance counselor, a teacher, a parent, or a social worker.
4% Just give it time and you'll snap out of it. Everyone gets depressed every now and then.
17% Confide in a friend or in a journal. It is best to get your feelings out in the open.
6% Search the Internet for a chat-room that deals with teenage girls and depression. Chances are you'll soon find out that you're not alone.

  • Try writing a letter (to your mom, friend, grandma, whomever), with the intention of not ever sending it. In this letter tell about what is going on in your life. You may not start out being able to pinpoint the issue that has you so down, but as you write, you may figure out what's bothering you.

  • I know how you feel because I've felt the same way. There was a time in my life where nothing made sense to me and I cried all the time and didn't know why I was so upset. I realized that I needed some help, so I talked to my mom about it and she hooked me up with a therapist. The therapist was awesome because I was able to talk about my problems to a person that was outside of my daily grind, someone of a third party. I am now a very emotionally balanced person and I love it! Good luck Becky! Keep your chin held high, you can overcome this.

  • Becky- if this depression is affecting your life, then maybe you should let your parents know. They may be able to get you some counseling. Something else may be causing your problem. Until then, surround yourself with things that you like to do or people that keep you happy. I'm positive you'll be fine, girls go through this. Good luck to you.
